2012 Recap. Year-ender blog.

2012 is going to end soon which makes me realize that time really moves fast. Sometimes I wish that things would slow down because everything is so fast paced and I don’t wanna miss out on somethings. This year is one memorable roller-coaster ride for me. So much has changed; I had my share of ups and downs, trials and difficulties, triumphs and success.

Everyone can hardly wait for the dawn of the New Year, but before we turn the page and say our farewell to 2012 let me walk down through memory lane and reminisce the experiences that this year has taught me.

12 highlights of my 2012

January. Our faith and our relationship as a class were put to test when our classmates encountered an accident. It was not quite a good start for a year right. We were living on prayers just for the fast recovery of ChipiBoys

February. The love month but let’s not dwell on that yet since I wasn’t dating anyway. So focus on studies. Hahaha!:-) I received an award during our recognition day because I was included in the Dean’s List. It was such an honor and very fulfilling not only for me but for my family. Plus all my girlfriends also received an award. Yey to our team work! J

March. Marks the biggest milestone in my student life. We finally graduated from College. All the hard works and sleepless nights paid off. The sad part is that we go separate ways with the people we spent almost our entire college days.

April. There’s no place like home.  My stress free month. Visited a family in Cebu and then finally my hometown Leyte. I’m the happiest when I’m at home because it means that I get to spend time with my family and friends. It was also a needed break from my studies and also a preparation for another phase in my life as a working girl this time.

May. This is my Month! Birthday month and love month. I so love this month, no need to expound J

June. At exactly June 1, I was officially employed in my dream company HP. This was the greatest challenge for me since I’m new to this kind of experience. I couldn’t still believe that I’m already part of the working force. I was just so thankful for all the blessings that I received.

July. Inlababooo. Met new people who became a special part of my life. J <3

August. Time to catch up. Since my Gf’s and I went on separate ways and we barely get the chance to see each other, we planned something something just to be able to spend time even just for a lunch or a night out.

September. Mother’s birthday month. Bakasyon grande at Davao with family. It was my first time there in Davao and I immediately fell in love with the place and the people. Everyone was just so friendly and welcoming in Davao and I can’t wait to visit the place again soon.

October. Work-home-work. I’m starting to lose my social life and my life starts to be boring but never the less I’m still thankful for work and pay ofcourse :P

November. Our faith was once again put to test. My father was rushed to the hospital and we immediately filed an emergency leave to be with family at Cebu. It was really a hard time, and I can’t even manage to smile or laugh on little things because something big was holding me up. I can say that this is the most difficult problem that our family has faced. Physical stress, emotional stress and financial stress all in one. But then again God never fails us. He is so amazing that he never left our side. So I’m am very much Thankful! God is really awesome.

December. My favorite time of the month. I always get excited for the holiday. Good thing I was allowed to be on leave from work for 7 days so I was able to spend Christmas with family and with love’s family.
2012 is one of my favorite year so far. It brought me a lot of experiences that can help me in facing other years to come. Thank you so much

On being a Fanatic

Fact: I’m the biggest fan of the very charming JLC *blushes* just the thought of him makes me kilig. Hahaha. And my friends can attest to that. I have a long list of JLC movies that I’ve watched, loved and memorized the lines and scenes. Hihih. From One More Chance, A Very Special Love, Miss You Like Crazy, My Amnesia Girl and the list goes on.

I was even present during their mall show at Trinoma for the movie The Mistress. Very fanatic right, good thing boyfrann was ever supportive with my craziness. Heheh. And ofcourse I don’t wanna be the last person to watch his latest movie so during my off boyfrann and I immediately watched The Mistress. As expected the movie was great. Star Cinema never fails me. JLC and Bea are really good in their craft.

Few days after, the movie was the talk of the town. Even in the office it was what most of our conversation was about.  My teammates wanted to watch  and they were convincing me to go with them. It took us the whole shift to finally decide if we will go with our plan. It was already about midnight when we arrived at Resorts World because we rendered OT before that and we got out of the office at around 11. We were already in the ticket booth all excited to watch when the saleslady informed us that the only available ticket is worth 500. Five hundred pesos for a movie ticket, WTF right. We were all dismayed. It took us minutes in deciding whether we will push through with it. That was a huge amount you know. But for the love of JLC I still watched the movie. We ended up at the movie house despite the very expensive tickets. Talk about being such huge fans.

We Salute You, Sec Jesse

I did not know him personally but upon hearing the sad news I felt a hint of pain and a feeling of loss. Jesse is really a great loss, he had done a lot for our country and he could have done more but maybe it is already his time. For sure, God has better plans for him. He might be in a better place right now.

It’s weird though that I see my father in him. His simplicity and humbleness reminds me of my father. It amuses me seeing him just in a simple t-shirt, shorts and slippers in ordinary an day which is very much like my father.

To the Robredo family, our deepest condolences.

Reality Sucks

Life after college comes my realization of what reality is all about. Days have been rough on me after being in the work force. Things happened hastily that I wasn’t ready for any of them. This past months has brought me so many downs.

I’m having difficulty dealing with the people who have attitude problems and issues with work ethics. Although I was already able to adjust with the tasks and I am already able to grasp all the information regarding my job, the problem with my teammates enters the scene. I also don’t like the fact that the nature of our work is 24/7 and critical jobs must be monitored. Most of the time I feel stressed and pressured. Poor me :( It’s supposedly a long weekend in the Philippines but that doesn't apply to me which makes me more depressed plus the fact that today is Sunday supposedly a rest day but again, not for me.

So this is reality? It is finally sinking in. I know that ups and downs are part of life’s reality but I must handle the situation the best that I could. I just have to cling to the thought that life is like a carousel sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down and sometimes you just go round and round. I may be down right now but who knows tomorrow might be a different turn of fate.

Pardon me if this post is so emotional, but the hormones and the situation is just too dragging.

Out of my Comfort Zone

June 28 was my-not-so-favorite-day in office. I even cried, out of my frustration and sadness. It was really a rough day, I can feel the stress and pressure in work and an additional factor was that an office mate told me that I'll be attending a team building the next day. I didn't want to attend the said event because it was only me and our manager who will be there because my other teammates will be busy. So I thought that I'll be a loner since I'm still new in the company and I barely know the people there. Though my new found friends during the ITO onboarding will be there, I still didn't want to go because I know that they'll be with their teammates. I've been crying the whole night because it was really out of my will to be there but no matter how many tears I cry I can't do anything because they leave me with no choice. So there the next day I woke up at around 5 in the morning because I was scheduled on the 7am bus. And just like what I expected I was alone in the bus though I see familiar faces like our hiring manager and people from my former team which was web hosting. I was a loner until the second bus, where my friends were, arrived. So there I made the most out of the team building.

They welcomed us with a banner
The view. It was a resort but we had to go down over 250 steps to Camptipolo where the adventure happened.

My friends from web hosting team

Jico, Jerel, Sir Jaybee, Chelzee, Moi, Vero and Kat. Sir Jaybee is our hiring manager. We owe him a lot because if not because of him we will still be unemployed I guess. hehe.

The activities started in the afternoon. Upon arriving Camptipolo we were already tired and perspiring because of the 250 steps on the way down.

We were grouped into 6 teams and I belong to black team, thus my black UST shirt :) I was the only girl in the team which was awkward at first but it has also its pros.

Our first adventure was low rope course. Just by looking at the ropes hanging I know that it is really difficult to do, plus the time pressure. The ropes were formed like a spider web, x-trail and cargo net. I just couldn't imagine myself completing the course but bruises and scars couldn't be avoided of course. I'm also thankful to the boys in our team because they helped and guide me to the finish line. The second adventure was the mud slide. It was also my first time to do it. I don't even to go slides in pool because I don't have the nerve to do it and I'm really a big coward. But after doing the mud slide which I enjoyed I even wanted to go for a second round. The next thing we did was balancing log. I was really proud that I was able to cross the other edge without falling into the lagoon. Tarzan jump followed but I didn't do it since I was the only girl and they decided not to put me in danger. Hahaha. Sweet right. Mud crawl followed which made us more dirty but it was fun as well. It was really a new experience for me since I'm really not the adventurous kind of person. In fact I'm the biggest coward I know, that even with kittens I am afraid. From that activity I discovered something new from myself. I realized that I'm capable of things that I can't imagine myself in it. I didn't have pictures with our team because no one brought camera with us. But thanks to Kat for this pictures. It was from the pink team, the winning team by the way.

Low rope course

At the end of the day, I realized that going to the team building was not a bad idea after all. It was there that I met new friends and knew my capabilities. My teammate was right when he said that it will be my break from work and yes it was really a break that I needed. Though the next day my whole body was in pain but it was all worth it. I just had a whole body massage after which was also oh so good. I'm looking forward to more team buildings! :-)

It's the Small Joys

I'm like so "kilig" right now *and so konyo too* HAHA!! I got an advance birthday greeting from 2 of my bestest and closest friends and they never really fail to surprise me. Obviously, I'm the kind of person who's not so hard to impress, those little effort will already make me so happy. I was just not expecting a birthday greeting yet so I was surprised when I got a notification in my Facebook account. Kababawan I know, but that's me. Haha! Anyway 2 days to go and it's my birthday but I don't feel excited about it. Weird.

Crappy internet is crappy.

I know that the season finale of How I Met Your Mother was like four days ago and as much as I wanted to watch it immediately, I just couldn’t because of this crappy connection I have. Yes, I’m blaming my sun broadband. I tried buffering it last Tuesday but I always get this annoying error message, so I thought I have no choice but to wait for my friend to download it and get my own copy. It breaks my heart reading tweets about the finale; everyone had their fair share of comments regarding the episode. I felt like a loser sitting in front of my monitor feeling clueless of what had happened. I even got upset when I saw a friend in Instagram post picture of who the bride was. Oh, that bitch. I really hate spoilers. Anyways, I already have the idea of who the bride was, and actually even at the start of the season I already have a hint that it was her, it must be her :’)

So earlier today I tried my luck and started buffering the finale and with much happiness, yes I was able to watch and finish the whole episode. One thing’s for sure, the season finale was a big cliffhanger. I was like asdfghjkl.

So Robin was the bride, but what about Quinn? What about the super cute magic proposal? What happens to Ted and Victoria? All these questions in my mind made me feel more excited for the next season. I just can’t wait much longer.

HIMYM is without a doubt the funniest comedy show ever, well atleast for me. I’ve watched every episode since day one and I instantly fell in love with it as well as the characters in this series. This is one comedy show not to be missed. This is my favorite series that I never missed a single episode, next to One Tree Hill of course. I’m pretty sure that when HIMYM ends, I’ll be one of the viewers that will cry and miss the friendship of Lily, Marshall, Ted, Robin and Barney, yes especially this classical player Barney :-)

A little inspiration.

I’ve came across an old book of my brother entitled “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren. Way back my high school days, when he used to fetch me after school, I already took a hold of this book and I used to read it while on our way home. But I was not able to finish reading it because maybe I was still a little immature that time and didn’t have that deep sense of understanding about life. After how many years I found this book again in their bookshelves and I thought I might give it a second try and this time I must be able to complete the 40-day spiritual journey. I am very much grateful that I brought this book with me. The book is so well written that even the first few paragraphs already struck me; it made great impact in my perspective about life.

One thing I learned from this book is that “You are not an accident,” which is explained thoroughly in the second chapter. God prescribed every detail of our life; He planned the days of our life in advance. He left no detail to chance and He planned it all for his purpose.

One afternoon a friend sent this message through text: “Don’t run ahead of God, let Him direct your steps. He has plans and He has time. God’s clock is never early nor late. It always strikes on time.” I read the text over and over again and it realized that it actually relates to the message of that Chapter in the book. This only proves that even the smallest thing that happened to us is part of his plan; even a simple text message.  It was God’s way of reminding me not to lose hope on whatever it is that I’m going through. I just have to believe in God’s plan for me. And whenever I feel down and about to give up, I must hold on to this thought because yes, it actually helps. So, thy will be done Lord.

The “I miss you” feeling

It has been a few months already that I’ve been getting this feeling; feelings where all I can think about is that one person that makes me smile continuously. The feeling of what he’s doing and how he’s doing without me by his side. It even left me wondering if he misses me, the way I am missing him. It always comes to a point wherein I regret the things that I’ve done in my past. I have this tendency to take for granted the people who cares for me, the people who show their love for me. I can’t seem to reciprocate their actions and intentions which give them the feeling that I don’t like them at all. With the way I treat them, I can’t expect them to stick by me forever and thus the feeling of regret taking over me. So here I am again, wishing to take back the time and wanting to have a second chance to correct the mistakes that I have done, if only I could. I hate the “I miss you” feeling, it’s just so hard for me to handle. But then again that’s reality. I can’t deny the fact that I miss the way we used to be. I miss your good morning and good night text. I miss how you flood me with your text if it took me a while to reply. I miss your phone calls. I miss our movie dates. I miss how you always made time for me. I miss you. I miss us. It is just so sad that we meet someone who means a lot to us, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go. But how am I supposed to let go and move on when every time I see you, I fall that much harder. I know that I can’t stay like this forever, I can’t be sad until the rest of my life and let the past haunt me. Time must come that I have to get rid of the old feelings to make room for the new ones.

Life's a BEACH.

No doubt, summer is finally here and enjoying summer holidays on the beach is something I look forward to. With these kind of temperature, a family trip to the beach is very much welcome. Lately, I’ve been fantasizing about where I can spend my summer. As much as I wanted to go to the famous summer destination such as Bora or Palawan, I know I couldn’t just yet because I don’t have the luxury to spend that much money. The most convenient beach resort we had that time was at Portofino Cebu.

It sure was a great day to spend a not-so-lazy-weekday at the beach. It was also my Kuya's birthday that time which gave us another reason to celebrate :D

Just the smell of summer can make me fall in love. I really can't swim but I am just in love with the beach.

The fine powdery white sand, crystal clear water and spectacular sunsets - - it’s just so breathtaking :)

4IS-B Family

"School is stupid, horrible and a pain in the butt. I hate school, but in that place you hear a lot of funny things that help you get through the day." This video presentation was shown during the Meet the Parents. I can't help but get teary-eyed. Bittersweet memories with the people whom I spend my entire college life with. It's very heart-breaking to think that it's time we go our separate ways. I will definitely miss my 4IS-B family.

Guilty

A friend shared the link of this video and I actually cared to watch and finish this despite the fact that I have a slow internet connection here. When you read the title, you know it isn’t appropriate. Being a Filipino, I’m sure you will be disappointed with this. But upon watching the whole video I realized that what the guy is talking about is actually true. I know that this will be a big issue; I'm expecting a lot of violent reactions for this guy. But come to think of it, the things he shared are true and actually happening in our country. I know it’s sad to hear all this stuff but hello it is reality. A sad reality indeed. I hope this will serve as an eye-opener for us Filipinos. We must not tolerate the negative feedbacks that we receive from foreigners. It’s time we do something about this. Just saying though :)

Graduation Gitters

FYEAH, I'M GRADUATING! :) March 31 is the BIG day. Mixed emotions - - feeling excited to march down the isle and feeling sad because I know I'm gonna miss the daily routine of being a student. But just like what they say, all ending are beginnings too. I'm so thrilled of what's in store for me :') Thank you Lord for always being there <3

Defining Moment

Our Recognition Day was held yesterday, and because I was included in the so-called prestigious dean’s list from last sem, I was awarded with my certificate of recognition by our very own Dean de Alban.

Me and my celebrity ate with Dean. :)
I was 10th placer with the semestral average of 1.45 by the way, I’m not bragging though it may seem like it. Haha. I don’t know, but I just don’t feel proud about it. Yes I’m thankful because so far this is the highest that I achieved and never did I imagine myself being on the top 10 but that’s it. I’m not proud maybe because I don’t deserve it or maybe because I don’t see something special about it. Weird. Haha.

But the most rewarding feeling is that I made my parents and family proud of me once again. I know that I’ve been making them proud since my elementary days that is why I’m their favorite. Hihi:> As long as I’m making my parents proud I’m good with it already.

Lazzzyyy ass

So our Prelims started last Wednesday (Jan18) until Saturday. It was my last Prelims in my entire student life BECAUSE I’M GRADUATING *yes, there should be emphasis on that* so I was supposed to be on my nerd mode and study ‘til the wii hours of the night. But that was not the case. I don’t know, but I’ve been a lazy ass this past few days, actually it’s been months already. So there I was the night before my Nat Sci exam, I strolled the mall, went to Happy Lemon; had Cocoa Rocksalt with Cheese and I even wanted to drop by Padi’s point because of the party vibes it has. The following night, I attended a party and wasn’t able to study for my Ethics and Taxation exam. For sure I failed that subject; screw the proctor. The third night I was at Eastwood until 2am and when I arrived home, I immediately went to bed. So the consequence, failing grade in my COBOL exam. Deym FML :( The last night, I decided to just stay home but still I was not in the mood to study so I watched a movie instead.

For the record, this has been my very first Prelims week that I didn’t even bother to read a single lesson we had. It was like I’m going to a battlefield unprepared and willing to die anytime soon. When it’s time to see my grades, I already know what to expect, low grades of course. I don’t want any of this irresponsibility’s to happen again. I’ll try my very best to focus. I promise myself that I’ll do better in our Finals. I must do good and I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

getting this heavy feeling :\

Tough day. This is probably one of the hardest challenges that our class is going through right now. Just like what Ate Anne said, “Whirlwind of emotions, ang bigat, ang lungkot but end of the day, kailangan matatag pa rin." I couldn’t agree more with her statement.

It sucks seeing your classmates in this kind of situation. Until now, I still wish that this is just a bad dream but then its reality. A sad reality indeed. I get this heavy feeling inside every time I think of the two. We may not be the closest friends in the world but still they are my classmates. They’ve been part of my college life so it’s also hard for me, and for our whole class actually.

The least thing that we can do right now is to pray. Pray harder every day. I always keep reminding myself to always look at the positive side of things. Eventually, everything will be alright. Just believe.
